Finish your day with a visit to one of the award-winning Pinot Noir wineries for which Sonoma’s Russian River Valley is famed, and then arrive at your new accommodations by late afternoon. DAY 5

SONOMA VALLEY | REDWOODS & OYSTERS

After breakfast, join your private, certified naturalist-guide for a morning tour of the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve. California’s redwoods are the tallest living things on earth — the tallest is more than 300 feet high. They’re also among the planet’s oldest life, with one in particular (known affectionately as Colonel Armstrong) dating back some 1,400 years. Listen as your private guide explains the complex ecology and fascinating history of the coastal redwood groves. After your walk, drive south through the rolling hills of Sonoma and Marin to Point Reyes Station for a dive deep into the heart of the Tomales Bay oyster world. Go behind the scenes on a private exploration of a local oyster farm to discover what goes into farming sustainable bivalves. Then, taste beautifully prepared oysters — raw, baked, barbecued and smoked — while taking in the gorgeous waterfront views. Return to your accommodations by mid-afternoon with the remainder your day at leisure.
