Covering the city’s turbulent past and bright future, you’ll visit the iconic Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, visit Checkpoint Charlie, formerly the most prominent border crossing between East and West Berlin, the Gendarmenmarkt, a historic market square that is host to an impressive array of striking architecture, the famed Unter den Linden boulevard, the East Side Gallery, a stretch of the Berlin Wall that has been repurposed as an open-air gallery, and Charlottenburg Palace, the largest palace in the city. Accompanying you as you explore Berlin on this four hour tour will be an experienced local guide with an intimate and in-depth knowledge of the city, ready and able to answer your questions and to tailor the experience to meet your goals.

  • Today you will be picked up from your hotel in your private car by your driver-guide. Get off the beaten path in Berlin and investigate the city’s thriving counterculture neighborhoods and unique ethnic areas. It’s a great way to go beyond the typical tourist sites to get a sense for some of the unique cultures that give this thriving German capital its unique flair. Over the course of your tour, you will have a chance to see the emerging areas such as Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg & the Hackesche Hoefe. In Kreuzberg, stop to explore the thriving Turkish community that calls the area home. The area is peppered with a unique collection of urban farms, guerrilla gardens, alternative art galleries and organic markets, all signs of the area’s growing popularity. You will also explore the areas of Hackesche Hoefe and Prenzlauer Berg. Both districts were built a century ago as residential areas workers and the poor. Today, these areas are boasting with life, art, fashion and culinary discoveries. Continue the tour with a deep dive into the history of various counterculture movements in Berlin history. Music and art have all played important roles in Berlin’s creative and subcultural scene. Hear about the Love Parade, a famous electronic dance music festival, along with the reggae, hip-hop and Rasta fans of Yaam Beach. As part of your exploration, you will also have the chance to learn about Berlin’s unique food culture. Discover currywurst, a popular style of fried German sausage seasoned with curry-flavored ketchup. You’ll also hear about Doner kebab, Turkish-style gyros that first gained popularity in Berlin. Oberwesel is fittingly called the "town of towers and wine," admire the 16 military towers and visit the city wall to see why. Oberwesel is known for its wine production. The wine market festival is a popular tourist attraction where you will have the chance to taste wines from the Middle Rhine region. Furthermore, Schönburg castle, the Liebfrauen church, and the parish church St. Martin are monuments that are worth a visit.

  • Meet your driver at your hotel for a private transfer to St. Goar harbor from where you'll embark on a shared cruise discovering the beautiful scenery of the romantic River Rhine. Enjoy a gentle journey to Rudesheim, passing the bewitching Lorelei, often considered the most stunning section of the Rhine. Lorelei is a steep slate rock from where, according to German legend, a siren of the same name threw herself off in despair over a faithless lover. Admire picturesque views of riverside villages dotted along its banks, as well as castles and fortifications perched among hilltops. Arrive in Rudesheim, a historic town of winegrowers, and explore at leisure. Stroll through the charming Old Town lined with half-timbered houses, admire its Gothic Eagle Tower or choose to peruse its traditional wine taverns, before boarding the return boat back to Oberwesel.   • A Journey Back in Time
  • Enjoy a private transfer from Oberwesel to Heidelberg. Approximate travel time is one hour and 30 minutes.
  • A historic city renowned for its universities, baroque architecture and romantic appeal, Heidelberg is a spectacular place. Found in the shadows of Heidelberg Castle, set out on a walking tour of the historic city center, or altstadt, alongside a private guide. Wind your way past the old stone bridge – constructed in the late 18th century – toward the Church of the Holy Spirit, an excellent example of late Gothic architecture. Soon you’ll find yourself on a relaxing ride aboard a funicular, ascending above the city to arrive at Heidelberg Castle. A unique residence mixing a range of styles from Gothic to Renaissance, tour the property, first commissioned in the late 14th century but not completed until the 20th century, while taking in impressive views of the city and Neckar River below. Over the course of this four-hour tour, you’re sure to discover, if not become entranced by, the city’s romantic charm while learning much of its incredible history.

  • Into the Black Forest
  • After meeting your driver-guide at your hotel, take to the road and head toward the mountains on the outskirts of Triberg. Here, you’ll lay your sights on Germany’s highest waterfall – a picturesque series of cascades that roll down the mountainside. At the nearby Eble Uhren Park, you’ll see Europe’s largest cuckoo clock, then head to a local restaurant, Landgasthof zur Lilie, to enjoy a typical Black Forest lunch. After your meal, you will tour through the Black Forest Open Air Museum and participate in a workshop centered on butter making or cuckoo clock design. Optionally, you are invited to join on a toboggan run down the sommerrodelbahn, an excellent family-themed activity or alternatively, to enjoy a zip-lining adventure high above the tree of the Black Forest. Following your tour through the heart of the Black Forest, you will be returned to your hotel.
