Experience warm and welcoming southern charm in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia.

Savannah is a vibrant and enigmatic city that comes to life in springs. It exudes seamless southern charm and hospitality reflected in the quaint cobbled streets, historic architecture, lush greenery, and delectable cuisines.

It is a popular tourist destination but there’s something magical about it in spring. With mild weather and a pleasant spring breeze, the city is in full bloom and ripe with opportunities to make once-in-a-lifetime memories.

Here are some of the best things to do in Savannah, Georgia to satiate your wanderlust and experience its culture wholeheartedly.

Savannah Historic District

Savannah takes pride in its southern culture and hospitality. It’s only fitting to start the list with its historic district which beautifully captures the essence of the city. It is a quaint 2.5 square mile area housing some of the most breathtaking architecture of the city.

Walk the cobbled street with your beau as you marvel at the tranquil historic homes, imposing churches, and ancient buildings that date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Stop by to get some flowers and enjoy a romantic dinner as the evening sunset paints the sky in mesmeric shades.

The district has about 20 city squares and we urge you to explore them all. Each square has its own unique history and charm. Furthermore, they are surrounded by museums, historic homes, and churches which offer a great opportunity to learn more about the city and immerse yourself in its culture.

Forsyth Park

The sprawling 30-acre Forsyth Park is a sight to behold. With lush greenery and dainty floral aesthetics, you will love the refreshing ambiance here. The standout feature is its iconic fountain shaded by mighty oak trees and encircled by Spanish moss.

You will especially love this park in spring as it is blooming brightly with dogwoods, azaleas, and many other varieties of flora.

Savannah Botanical Gardens

Another must-visit spot in Savannah during spring is its luscious and green 10-acre botanic garden. This spot houses many plants and flowers to fill your senses and encircle you with pure floral euphoria.

Walk along the garden to spot your favorite florals, including camellias, azaleas, and other varieties.

River Street

The popular tourist spot of River Street is tucked right along the Savannah River, offering magical views and excellent acoustics. The street is studded with a line of local restaurants and cafés, shops, and bars.

The ambiance is quite lively and allows you to walk the street like locals and experience the culture and flavors of the city. Enjoy the scenery while indulging in your favorite treats and don’t forget to pick up some gifts and souvenirs for the trip back home.

Bonaventure Cemetery

It may sound bleak, but Bonaventure is a very beautiful cemetery on the outskirts of Savannah. It is well worth your time as it has impactful sculptures and exquisite landscaping.

The intricately designed headstones are another standout feature of the place. It is the final resting place of many notable figures, including poet Conrad Aiken and songwriter Johnny Mercer. In spring, you will find flowers poking from every corner of the cemetery, making it all the more beautiful. You will also find the most awe-inspiring views of the Wilmington River here.

Riverboat Cruise

If you are tired of walking the cobbled streets, have a piece of Savannah from the sea. The city is nestled on the Savannah River, so you can’t miss the riverboat cruise when you are there.

Several companies offer elaborate cruises through the city with exciting sightseeing tours for the whole family and hearty dinner buffets. In spring, the weather is quite mild and breezy so you can really get in there and enjoy the stillness of the river.

Take a Ghost Tour

Savannah may be filled with flowers and colors, but it is also infamous for its haunted history. If you are looking for some spooky adventures, take a ghost tour to learn more about the city’s history and hear some chilly ghost stories to keep you up at night.

Many tour companies in the city offer ghost tours ranging from trolley tours to walking tours.
